Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis L.) has always been considered a “calming herb”. It has been used since the Middle Ages to reduce stress and anxiety, promote sleep, improve appetite and ease discomfort associated with digestion. Lemon balm, that can be standardized in rosmarinic acid, is often combined with other herbs like valerian to enhance the overall relaxing effect.
