Fibersol-2® is a soluble dietary fiber produced by ADM/ Matsutani Singapore Pte., Ltd.
Fibersol-2® is obtained from corn flour through a pyrolisis process, followed an enzymatic step; fiber that derives from this process is a maltodextrin (polymer of glucose moyeties) which contains 1-6 and 1-4 bonds, on top of specific and peculiar 1-2 and 1-3 bonds that make this fiber resistant to digestion. This has been confirmed and made official by several authorities including Italian Ministry of Health.
Fibersol-2® has recently received an official certification as a Low-FODMAP food by the Australian Monash Univerisity. Low-FODMAP foods and ingredients are certified as such when they contain low or no sugars like Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols; these sugars, if present in food, are easily and quickly fermented by resident microbiota, having higher probability to generate or boost those symptomes related to IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), i.e. gut discomfort, gas, bloating, flatulence etc… On the contrary, Fibersol minimizes these risks since it is consumed by resident microbes in a gradual manner, thanks to the peculiar molecular structure.
Fibersol-2® boasts excellent technical features: it is flavorless and odorless, highly water-soluble, not hygroscopic and resistant to high T and other type of process steps; thus it is easily used in the production of both dietary supplements and several types of functional foods and beverages.
On top of prebiotic function and of the ability to regulate intestinal transit, this fiber has been deeply studied for its effect in reduction of glycemic and lipidemic post-prandial peak, and for appetite reduction.
